Default SLC, the federal building, and the "art" incident

While looking for some Thai food walking around SLC I was taking pictures of some of the architecture and art installations. When taking one of an installation in front of what turned out to be the federal building I was ushered inside by the armed security guard?
After some brief questioning I was informed my camera's memory card was to be surrendered. After some polite resistance I was allowed to display the cards contents and delete any pics that raised hackles. All the while I noticed a man armed with an automatic weapon and wearing black body armour had appeared out of no where and was keeping tabs on the situation. I'm sure my long hair, long coat, and biker boots weren't helping.

I was allowed to leave after the offending pics were deleted but on my way out I turned back and asked if I could take a picture of the art installation with my back to the building. This resulted in several audible sighs and several phone. After another ten minutes of waiting the response was simply "yes".

When outside with my back to the building and just about to press the shutter button the armoured man came running out of the building barking "sir, halt!" Now I was sighing ... he apologized and informed me he was going to have to detain me. Just before I could respond and convey my sense of injustice to him he said " Not really, I'm kidding you left your gloves inside" and handed them to me.

C'mon.... how could you not laugh? Hysterical.
