I have Novell NCS / OES2 Linux running with 4 cluster members (cluster name EDEN) and a couple of NSS volumes. Everything runs fine - but there are two volumes that will be activated on different mount points if they failover to another node.
On node 1 + 2 the volume will be mounted in

/media/nss/EDEN_ABR_DATA while node 3 + 4 will do it in
/media/nss/ABR_DATA

iManager shows "/media/nss/ABR_DATA" as mount point.
I tried almost everything - including deleting the cluster volume, pool and virtual server object and re-installing it into my Cluster - nothing changed. The servers still remember the wrong mountpoint.
Where does OES store this information? I'm always in trouble with my backup if a volume moves to the wrong destination.

Greetings all,

I browsed many websites before posting here, maybe someone could lend us some advice on this :
We have a two node cluster SLES 10 SP2, OES2 SP1, patched all up, running on a three ESX servers 3.5 infrastructure (all servers identical physically, patched up too).

We have problems with NSS volumes, used by the cluster, configured under vmware as Virtual Disks (SCSI Controller in Physical bus sharing, meaning any ESX server can host the VMs and access to the disk images).
Randomely those 3 volumes deactivates, see below an example log :

We have one volume hosting GroupWise (1 MTA, 1 PO), another hosting GroupWise archives, the last hosting Files.
It seems that the problem appears when we are running heavily I/O access to those volumes (i.e : doing a backup, users copying files).

We have configured recently a supplemental volume but this time with raw device mapping ; it is a big 2 To volume hosting geographical data, so it is used very intensivly, and it does not deactivates ...

I think this is a Vmware problem, and that we should migrate all the virtual volumes to raw devices, but we have approx. 1To of data to move, with limited space available on the SAN ; So, any help / tip would be appreciated.

Actually we have setted up monitoring on the cluster resources, so they can come back online after those failures, but i fear data unstability.

Hi All,

I've got a SLES10SP2+OES2SP1(version b, I think) server hosting a ncp volume that's housed on an EXT3 partition.

When a Windows client browses this ncp volume, there are a few files that show up multiple times. They have the exact same name, size, time, and date. I've browsed from an XP machine running client 4.91 SP3 and SP5 and get the same results.

Checking this path out locally on the linux server shows the dir list correctly (no duplicate files) - so I'm thinking there may be a bug in ncp on the server.

Anyone else seen this and/or know if this is addressed by a patch?

Thanks,
Matt

We mount a iscsi-lun via open-iscsi to /opt/novell/groupwise
Manualy this works perfectly, but during system boot it will not work.
The open-iscsi starts but the volume will not be mount.
Are there any troubles with the open iscsi in oes2-sp1 'sles10sp2'?
