Hope someone can help...

I have a client who, for audit and compliance purposes, wants to crack the passwords in their netware 6.5 environment. I remember that BV-Control for Netware when it was Bindview, use to have an NLM that would do this. They are looking for a low cost solution to get this info on about 250 accounts.

I've done some exhaustive searches and have not found much except...

I've already suggested they use strong password policies and controls, so please no advise on how this is not a good idea, i've already done that with them. They are persistent on doing it so after stating my opinion, i'm offering them solutions.

Thanks again for your help!!!!!

One of my NetWare 6.5SP7 server is the primary time server and this server is setup to sync to the public NTP server.

For the past few months, I have 2 incidents that the server failed to sync the time to the public NTP server and the time on the network is out of sync. I need to unload and load xntpd, then it will start to sync the time again.

On the XNTPD console, I noticed the following:

- synchronization lost and then write to the drift file every hour
- Most of the time, i will get the time synchronized with the public NTP server IP but it only record the entry every few days.

Shouldn't the server syncs the time more often than a few days?

How often does the server will sync the time with its time provider?

Wilson

I'm looking for a proxy server to control my users' access to certain sites
on the Internet. We have about 100 users with light-medium usage. Probably
no more than 10 people at a time accessing the web. I think Border Manager
(or Access Manager now I guess) would be overkill.

I'd like to leverage our eDirectory user accounts instead of having the
users log in when they want to use the Internet. I'd like it to be seamless
and as cheap as possible. My preference would be to just trust them and send
out occasional reminders about firm policy, but administration is getting
really paranoid

Is Squid the best choice?
Can I run it on an existing Windoze server that we use for internal cost
recovery tracking?

Are there others that would be as good or better?

We are in the process of using the Quest NDS Migrator tool to move from Netware to Windows file servers. It is able to identify security permissions applied to groups within NDS and convert these to AD groups and file permissions.
We have a server on which security has been setup using Profiles within NDS. These are not interpreted by the NDS Migrator tool.

Is there a way in which to translate these Profiles to regular groups?

Using the latest version of ConsoleOne. If there are to many objects in an OU it jumbles them out of order so they are impossible to find what I'm looking for. So I use the filter to just look at groups, NAL apps, and users. That worked for awhile. Now when I click on an OU with too many objects it gives a server resouces are low error and the OU will be blank unless I filter down to 1 type of objects. Any fixes for that? Server side or client side?

Since ConsoleOne is not supported anymore, what are the alternatives? If any. Besides upgrading our servers to Novell suse.

If not, please let me know.

I have more than a few people listed under the 'Admin' account 'Security
Equal To' tab.

Obviously, I'm very nervous about that.

I have Helpdesk users that will use ConsoleOne for remote controlling
users with Zen. They sometimes look at a user's properties for
information about memberships, etc.

Please let me know what you do to setup Helpdesk rights. The Zen piece
could be setup with Remote Operators, but what do I do to give them
rights to view user properties?

Thank you,
Mr Mister
