Been using SLED11 for quite some time. Last night a patch was downloaded and installed. Nothing appeared abnormal. This morning when I logged in I got a white screen. I started a second session, logged in as root and started sax2. I got a message "access to your display is denied". When I restart and go to RL3, no matter who I log in as (root, different users), sax2 always gets that message. When I go to RL5, I get log in prompt but no matter who I log in as I always get a white screen.

After recent kernel patch on SLED11, I can no longer suspend my computer. Very similar issue as djaquays post on 02-Nov-2009 as "X seems to die and I'm left looking at the boot status screen, with everything completely frozen." Although my hard drive is NOT dying. The only thing I've found is the following error in /var/log/messages:

Nov 12 18:29:23 xxxxx kernel: powernow: This module only works with AMD K7 CPUs

I tried to downgrade gnome-power-manager to the previous version but had the same issue. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this as I use suspend ALL THE TIME (well, I used to at least.......)?

TIA

I installed SLED 11. System was up and running and X was useable. I configured security and patch updates to be applied from novell. After the update was applied X no longer works. I am running this install on a HP 8510P that is according to manufacturer specs certified for SUSE Linux. The splash screen is on during boot up and when I disable the splash screen I see that xdm starts up but then it goes to a blank screen. At that point I can not kill X using a CTRL-ALT-BS. I am now only able to get use of the system by loading up the rescue system and mounting the drive and removing xdm from the startup scripts and getting a shell. I currently do not see any clue in the Xorg log file /var/log/Xorg.0.log but perhaps I am missing something. I am basically just trying to setup a management system because the company I work for has purchased 20 server licenses but I am starting to feel really disappointed with this desktop product

I have installed SLED 11 and I am unable to successfully update the installation. I have registered the system and it is listed within the novell account I have been assigned. I updated curl manually as I initially was getting an error connecting. Now I am able to connect via Yast but I am re-adding the repository and I get an failed authentication error. I am using the username and password assigned to me. I read the post listed below and looked in my profile for an url and logon credentials and I do not see one. My eval code is DA8ABD4320D0F8. The company I work has already purchased twenty three SUSE server subscription. I am looking to set up my management station.

Hello,

I recently tryed to update to the SLED10 SP3.

After I checked the migration script ("move-to-sled10-sp3-script.sh" or so) in YaST Online-Update it ran without errors (s. log attached). However it didnt provide any SLED10 SP3 update sources, but for :

http://www2.ati.com/suse/sle10sp3
and
http://download.nvidia.com/novell/sle10sp3 instead; the latter even requires a new kernel, which I cant get dut to missing SP3 sources...

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with OEM SLED installation and Im pretty sure Im eligible to upgrade to SP3.

I never had to subscribe to NCC on my own, so I can not check products etc.; nevertheless the NCC Configuration in YaST did work - until now. I think they use for OEM versions the values in "deviceid" and "secret" under /etc/zmd/.

Any suggestions ? - Many thanks in advance !
