Hey All,
Need some help with ZDM7 PXE preboot services.

Currently running a netware 6.5 server in VLAN1
PXE client sitting in VLAN2.
DHCP Server is running on VLAN3
IPHelper is running
DTS.ini, PDHCP.ini and TFTP.ini are unmodified.

I have had networks put an IPHelper in place and my client successfully picks up an IP address. The screen displays the "BOOT SERVER IP" correctly and the clients IP details are correct.
I watch the top of the screen where the Timeout counts down and eventually gives this error.
"Error: The server did not respond as requested in time
ZENworks shutting down...
Press any key to continue..."

This happens on every machine i have tested. If i hold down the Ctrl+Alt keys, then the imaging menu appears, i can select maintenance and the client will pull down the initrd, etc.. fine.

if i disable the IPHelper, move the client to the same VLAN as the server, then the whole process works perfectly.
not sure where to go from here.
help please ;)

Hi all - we just got in a couple of Dell Vostro 1720s with Realtek 8100C gigabit ethernet cards.....doesn't seem to be drivers for it in zen. Tried the October 2009 update (IR4) to no avail. The message I'm getting is "Could not find the Zenworks Repository"

I tried my good old backup plan, which is using a 4GB USB drive - but then I'm getting the 'there are no partitions eligible to receive the image" error.

The only drive choices I have in the BIOS are SATA or AHCI - I don't know if it has anything to do with this or not.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these? We're only planning on getting a couple - so I really don't care if I get the PXE/Network version working - I just need to get our base image down onto the hard drives.

I have some linux knowledge - but once the threads get into having to compile kernels, etc...it's kinda beyond my experience.

Thanks in advance,

Trying to set up a VM on ESX4 host by creating a new VM (XP 32bit) then booting to PXE and letting zenworks image it. Having some problems doing so..
Firstly.. sometimes during the initial download of the linux/initrd file, etc.. it says "Heap:dispose fail" but seems to continue on..

Then, the automated script runs, seems to push out the image successfully. VM restarts, and I get a "No OS Found" then the imaging process restarts itself. Infinite loop. If i boot into maintenance mode and "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/harddisk" and then do a "dir" i see "Windows" "Program files" etc..

Any clues as to why it wont boot up?

We recently updated all of our servers with the new ZDM7NWSP1IR4HP1. We distributed the zenworks update through our zenworks for servers so we downloaded the CPK files. Updates were successful except now we have lost our reimage on next boot functionality on all servers. We get the message "imaging failed with error 175". We downloaded and tried the Zenworks Imaging Driver Update for October 2009. We tried this on one server in our environment that we use for testing purposes. This did not fix the problem.

Can anyone help us? We don't see anything additional on the support site to patch.

We are having issues with PXE boot that is vexing.

What we are doing: re-imaging PCs. We have a PC that needs re-imaging.

-I copy the NIC address of the PC that needs re-imaging.

-Put the NIC address into the server policy (work to do), associate an image to the NIC.

-reboot the PC.

-The PC starts PXE boot, but by passes the "work to do". It goes right into windows.

-If we put a bootable USB into the PC, or wipe the old HD image. The PC will automatically re-image correctly during a reboot.

Details:
Server running Zen is Netware 6.5 sp6 , Zen is 7.0.1.

I have only been at my work a month. I was told the PXE boot function works "most" of the time. I would like it to work all of the time.

The PC is a Lenovo 9645-23u.

thanks
