Hello,

We are having an issue whereby, if network connectivity is interrupted for an extended period of time, a client's workstation helper will disconnect and refuse to reconnect automatically when connectivity is restored.

As a result, any workstation-associated applications disappear from the client's application window and won't come back until the client is rebooted.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

Hello

I am running a novell application using unsecured system user, and am having the problem whereby my apps are not displaying the mapped drives in the application dialogs. From previous posts there is an app from Craig Wilson which works around this problem, the link in these posts now seems to be dead any idea on how to get this app or alternatively another solution

I am running novell client 4.91 sp5 with my Zenworks Version is 7.0.1.3 sp3. The documentation refers to ensuring the system user on the xp machine has administrator priveleges any suggestions on how to check this.
Thanks

Hi All,

We are looking at rolling out MS Windows Installer 4.5 (KB942288-v3) into our environment, but have noticed that after the installation of Windows Installer 4.5 'some' MSI NALs will fail to install unless there is a reboot following the install of Windows Install 4.5. The weird thing is that even though the NAL fails I can install the application directly from the MSI? So it doesnt appear that the install of Windows Installer 4.5 requires a reboot to install MSI's, it just requires a reboot to install some NAL's that run MSI's.

The NAL fails with error 'Problem: Install Failed. MSI returned error code: 1601'
The MSI log file states 'Windows Installer proxy information not correctly registered'

I've googled the MSI log error but the fix for this requires a reboot which I already know fixes the problem. But I'd really like it if I could fix this as we all know users dont like forced reboots and if we force a reboot we have to notify the users prior to.

A few things I have tried is:

- Workstation associated and user associated NAL/MSIs installs after installing windows installer 4.5.

- Stop the windows install service before install of the new windows installer 4.5 and restarting it after install before installing a NAL/MSI.

- Restarting the Novell Application Launcher service after install of windows isntaller 4.5 and installing a NAL/MSI.

- Installing windows installer 4.5 under an admin and normal user.

- Installing windows installer 4.5 by a NAL and directly by clicking on the KB942288-v3.exe.

- Installing windows installer 4.5 using 'pre-install'.

Any ideas?

Hoi!

I've faced somekind of a bug, i think. It's surly documented but i will ask here anyway.

I have a normal AO, nothing special, just association to a "install-user".
Its like a installation-chain of needed applications, like JAVA, adobe flash player, microsoft office etc.
In total i have 20 different AOs.

Flash player for an example, I'd made one "installation-AO" and a "patch-AO".
the installation-AO contains the msi-package, and the patch-AO distribute a file under the windows directory to disable autoupdates. Anyhow i want the installation-AO to get installed BEFORE the patch-AO.

I've never seen this before, but when i run the installation-chain-AO with the application dependencies, it takes ALL of the containing application in a total random order. F**ked up?
Is this behaviour normal?

I'd also checked "Continue distributions immediately" on all the AOs within this dependency chain.

Any help would be appreciated!

Regards,

Hi all: I am seeing some strange behavior with two
workstation-associated applications. These apps were
created just like the hundreds of others I have made over
the years. They are workstation associated and set to force
run.

So here is the situation. These two apps will sometimes
run. On workstations where they do not, they are not
present in Application Explorer (like they never existed).
Here is the weird part; If I go into C1 and regenerate the
app's GUID the applications will then run for some time on
some workstations, then stop. Regenerating a new GUID fixes
the issue again for a while.

Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris.

This is Zen 7 on XP SP2.

This deals with using values under MSI> Properties that enter values into the MSI installs into the Registry or INI files.

On the initial install the values are installed as intended. However, if the AO "Verify" is selected, the values in the AO are ignored and the default value in the MSI Property table is used. If I remove the configuration settings from the MSI and use the AO to create or verify the reg or INI entries that works fine, but is not ideal.

Where can I start to try to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hi again: Quick question. What is the best way to push out
an app update when you do not know if app is currently
running on the target workstation?

Let me give a bit of an explanation. We use Firefox and I
often have to push out updates to it. We do this
automatically by "force run" as I want all workstations
updated with no user interaction. However, if the app is
running, not all files can be updated. To get around this I
normally wait until night and then set the force run flag so
that in the AM when users login the app runs immediately.
It would be nice if I could somehow sense if the app is
running from within the zenworks app.

Thanks, Chris.

Hi all: I have been working on a method of pushing out a
java update via zenworks. However I keep running into
issues. My method is very simple: either copy the exe down
to the server or call it off of a server, then start it with
the /s switch. However this method fails as several java
dependencies prevent the installer from completing. In the
past I have use snappshot but that limits you to a specific
I am curious how others update java (jre) via zen? Thanks,
