All,

I'm having an issue with creating a Distribution List with an email address. I have several DL's with email addresses that work fine. Our GWIA does NOT have the 'Expand groups' option set. Instead, we use Nicknames to define the email address for only the groups that need to be addressed by email.

I've tried to create a new one and, upon creation, the Email Address field does not get populated. Other DL's have the default name.po.domain@domain email address. I created a Nickname for this new DL as I have in the past. However, email sent to this address gets bounced as 'non such recipient'.

I've tried everything I know how to get this to work. Setting Preferred Email ID rather than Nickname. Setting the Preferred Name. Manually entering something in the Email Address field. Nothing will work to get this email address to answer.

If I use the 'View Email Address' button, all of the expected email addresses appear, though none are actually usable from the outside.

We have an entire 8.01 backend. I've tried using 8.00hp2 C1 snapins as well as 8.0.1 to the same effect.

How can I get this work as it has in the past? I do not want to enable the 'Expand Groups' option since this will give all of our groups an email address which I don't want.

Thanks,
Aaron

I have noticed something of recent after moving to Gw 8.0 sp1, We have two domain names for our company, say MYCOMPANY.COM and MYCOMPANY.COM.CR, if an e-mail is sent to user using any of the domain names, we can receive the e-mails. But if an e-mail is sent to a distribution list that has a nickname i.e nickname@mycompany.com.cr, the e-mail is received, but if it is sent to nickname@mycompany.com, the e-mail never gets delivered.
And to be exact, we have 6 domain names and all behave the same way and I have tested with different distribution lists that have nicknames. I have failed to pin down the problem. Gw8.0sp1 on suse oes2sp1

I have a situation where internal users are sending mail to external users with a internal users as a cc. The users are sometimes adding the internal user with with nicname@domain.com. When they do this the address for the cc user will be converted to user.<po>.<pd>@domain.com. Is there any ways to fix this?

After upgrading My GroupWise system from 7.0.2 to 8.0.1 on Netware. Primary
& PO same server, then Secondary & PO same server, then third domain, then
onto GWIA on Server with Secondary. Shut down all agents on that server and
only instal the gwia software without configuring. Brought up GWIA semed to
be running fine except when I open properties of GWIA in Console One and I
get an error "Unable to locat U:\**\wpgate\gwia\gwac.dc. Full
administration will not be available until installation complete." Then the
properties actually open when I acknowledged this error. Did I miss
something?

I searched this whole server for that file"gwac.dc" and didn't find it,
then searched SDD and found it under "\internet\gwia\NT\root". Should I be
concerned with this?? On the surface everything else seams to be fine.
Thank you for your patience.

I have discovered an odd behavior which seems to be focused on GWIA. I have a DB which sends formatted messages via SMTP through GWIA into our GW system these messages when opened appear to have had the formatting stripped. intercepting the message as a mime file shows the format. Looking at the mime file after transmission through GWIA the formatting chars are incorrect. Anybody seeing anything remotely similar?

Hello All,

I have been asked to open POP3 on our GWIA so Iphones can access GroupWise. I was wondering what the risks are with doing this and also
what is the most secure way to get the Iphones to work with GroupWise8 SP1.

I don't have an Iphone so I am not familiar with it or how it works. I hesitate to do this since this opens a direct connection into our GroupWise system from the outside.

Thanks in advance!
