Like SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), maintaining local accounts for either system administrators or general users can be a real pain if you have more than one
AIX server.
Centralized user accounts can minimize the impact of forced password changes and account administration.
eDirectory and
LDAP and AIX provides us with a solution to allow users to login to the AIX server using their existing eDirectory accounts, thus eliminating the need for repetitious, multi-server user administration.
