Remote Shutdown (School Env)

We are wanting to initiate a remote Shutdown or something like it on selected or all computers on our student network (workgroup).

We would like to specify a wildcard to shutdown a particular room i.e.:* \\A100*
As all machines are imaged on a regular basis and obtain a new randomly generated computer name, for example they would have the first part being \\C207-xxxxxxxxxxxx (using Symantec Ghost).

We would like very much to just shutdown a room,* \\C208-*

Is there an easier way or another program, I understand if we went through every possible combination there would be thousands, etc.

Does anyone out there have any ideas, recommended programs, etc??
