Accessing Lotus 123 files on Novell Server

I am trying to open and save a Lotus 123 file on a Windows Vista desktop from a volume on our Novell server. However I receive an error message when opening the file from the Novell Server. I get an
Error reading file:
Do one of the following.
Check not opening 0 byte file
Free memory by closing applications
Have file transmitted again using protocol that doesn't change file size

The version of Lotus I am using is 9.8. Novell client for Vista 1.0. Novell Netware 6.5.
Documents will open and save onto a windows server. They will also open and save on the Novell server from Windows XP machines.

Any and all help is appreciated.
