color schemes/ toolbars/ menu items

Hey All,

I dont suppose anyone could tell how to do the following? code samples are much appreciated.

1) Create a custom toolbar in which to put my own buttons on
2) Change the captions for existing buttons (w/o deleting them)
3) Access the color scheme currently in use (or at least show me where the changes are being stored)
