Default LAG redirect from http to https

Perhaps I'm missing something here.

LAG is setup with one IP
Set to redirect from port 80 to 443

It works unless I try to access the VIP on our Cisco CSS. Then it only works if I use port 443/https

In other words, it only redirects from 80 to 443 if I hit the REAL IP (obviously changing the DNS entry on my pc to point from the VIP to the real).

Yes, I clear the DNS cache each time and not going through a proxy server. The pc I'm using had direct access to the subnet where the CSS and LAGS are.

I just wanted to make sure though, that the intial HTTP "get" request to the LAG proxy goes to the LAG first and then redirects to HTTPS and THEN goes to the IDP for login?

Or does it go to the LAG, then redirect to HTTPS on the IDP and then back to the LAG on HTTPS?
