Ask in the NetWare forums for more info, but when NW 5.0 was
introduced, there was a lot of IPX. In order to transistion to a pure
IP environment, especially if IPX segments were removed leaving IPX
'silos', the SCM (Server Compatibility Mode) system was used. Look for
documentation and TIDs on SCMD, which is a method of encapsulating IPX
packets inside IP packets at the client, and unpacking them on the
server. You need to run SCMD on the server(s), and you need to have a
Client32 configured to use IPX inside of IP. I'm not sure if the
latest Client32 does that, and I'm also not clear on what was done with
DOS clients. But I'm pretty sure DOS clients were addressed and I just
don't remember the details.
