Default Rsync has problems with double byte characters, do we have to drop rsync as a backup solution ?

Since Netware 6.5 Service Pack 3 the codetable has changed from
Unicode to UTF-8.

Now rsync translate a double byte character to another character.

We use rsync to backup our files from 36 location servers to a central
location on a MS Windows 2003 server.
(but this problem happens with rsync from netware to netware too)

Files like "skiën" are renamed to "ski>n"
Those renamed files can not be restored to a netware volume.

Does anyone know if rsync.nlm will be modified to work with UTF-8 ???

Greetings from the Netherlands,

We have Netware 6.5 SP5 with Rsync.nlm v2.6.3
