Default Google Mini LDAP authentication

I am attempting to configure a Google Mini appliance to LDAP against our eDir tree for authentication purposes but am having some trouble. The configuration for the device is simple in that it will allow you to point it to an LDAP server and it then attempts to retrieve some of the basic LDAP settings before you can configure it any further. Here's where I run into trouble, I can point it to just about any of our NetWare servers and it will detect them as LDAP servers but when I point it to one of our SLES servers it says that it did not detect an LDAP Server.

I know that I am able to open an LDAP browser and create a connection to our SLES servers but I am wondering if there might be some basic configurations that might be able to be tweaked so that this device can see our SLES LDAP servers which would be the prefered server for our authentication.
