Default Login Updates

Hi All,

Just a quick query, I am trying to work through the possible negative impacts of increasing the login updates value above 5 seconds. Recommendations are generally between 1 -5 seconds for this value, but what would happen if this was increased significantly?

I guess this means that login time, network address, etc. will not be updated until the value is reached, but would this end up placing more or less load on ds?

My theory is this, say if the value was set at 2 mins: the updates would queue waiting to be written to the dib, requiring additional memory to hold information, then when they do get written to dib, there is more info to write taking longer and holding a lock longer.

Is this why the recommendation sits at less than 5 seconds? to provide more frequent, smaller writes to the database?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts
cheers
Heath
