First there are a few things that should probably be clarified or
corrected before going too far here.
An eDirectory instance has no requirement to hold full replicas (copies)
of any single partition. Logging into one of these servers (referred to
as an 'external reference' or 'ext-ref' server) is possible because the
eDirectory instance on the box knows how to reach the replica-holders and
then perform logins, data lookup, and everything else just like normal
(except across wires instead of within its own database).
Your first request is to cancel one R/W and move it to another partition.
A replica (of which read/write is a type) cannot be moved to another
partitions as a replica is specifically a copy of one partition. You can
remove a replica from one server and add it to another server, but it is
not really moving as much as it is removing one copy and then creating
another one somewhere else. Adding a replica of one partition to one
server and another replica of the same or different partition to another
server (or the same server... many-to-many relationship) is also just
fine. Hopefully this explains a bit why what you are asking does not make
sense.
Next you talked about deleting a R/W replica which is fine. eDirectory,
of course, is still running on that machine and is still actively able to
process any requests for that tree in which its instance is configured
until you remove that eDirectory instance (the DIB and configuration data)
from the system. This is done with the 'ndsconfig rm' command (run as
root if this is a root-based instance) on that server.
What I cannot figure out is what is meant by "recreate NDS into the other
Partition". What is your business goal with this recreation?
The documentation covers the commands for ndsconfig as well as partition
and replica management.
Good luck.
