Time not in sync - How much is an issue?

I can't find any exact information and I was hoping someone here knew or had a link to the answer. Exactly how far out of sync can a replica holder get before there is a problem? Everything that I read doesn't list any figures. I understand the whole loosely consistant concept but there has to be some figure or range when 'bad' things start to happen. If anyone has any information please let me know. Thanks.
