Password Change Without Client?

I have a need to allow USERS to change their eDirectory password without being attached with a Novell Client. We use eDirectory more as a management tool for GroupWise, and have it installed on Windows. Our archiving solution uses only eDirectory Authentication (LDAP), but our users do not connect to eDirectory - only GroupWise. So now we have users who need to access their archives, but have no eDirectory password set. Can I get around this without having to manage 700 users' eDirectory passwords?
