Default Re: edirectory replication + failover

Hi thanks for the reply. Just want to understand a bit more on your last statement on "eDirectory does not support clustering in an active/passive mode with windows."

Is it because the eDirectory DIB files are locked by the active instance thats why active/passive is not supported? Does that means the only mode is active/cold-standby?

What are you really going for here? If it's simply to have objects
available from two servers simultaneously then eDirectory handles this out
of the box with replication. The first two servers in your tree will, by
default, hold copies of the entire tree (the first three servers,
actually, if you have that many) so when any one of them are up they can
be used to get any data from the tree. You can use a layer-four switch or
a shared IP address on the boxes to make them both available simultaneously.

eDirectory does not support clustering in an active/passive mode with windows.

Good luck.
