Remove netware 6.5 server, Keep windows replicas.

We have edir 882 running on two windows 2003 servers, one is running Groupwise. A third partition member is a netware 6.4 box I want to decommission. My preperation:
a. Moved the WO object and replica master to one of the windows boxes
b. Do not see a certificate server in console one anywhere.
c. Will use Active Directory to sync time for eDIR running on windows, there will be no Single or Primary Time sync server in DSRepair.

My 2 part question is...

1) Can eDIR and Groupwise run without a netware server, just windows servers?

2) Best method to decommission the last netware box: shall I just power down the 6.5 box, then use console one to delete the old netware server objects? Or is it better to remove Directory Services from Netware. I do not want to destroy the netware box in case I need to bring it back on line because the decommissioning failed, so the "power down and delete objects" method is favored but do not know what issues bay be associated with either method.
Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.
