edir 8.8.5, Win2k3 RC2, mysterious reboot - agent closed
Sorry for the heavy title, wanted to make sure it can be referenced in the future.
System: Win2k3 RC2 Enterprise, SP2, current updates
Apps: Terminal Services, SQL Server 2000, WSUS 3.1, Symantec Endpoint Management server [note, Symantec Endpoint client not installed]
eDir replicas:
NW 6.5 sp8, edir 8.7.3: Master
Win2k3 Standard, SP2, current updates: Read/Write
Win2k3 RC2 Enterprise, SP2, current updates: Read/Write
Managed to reinstall eDir 8.8.5 trial, thinkgs were stable for about a day, then began receiving periodic reboots at random times during the day (initially, day and night). Further, eDirectory Services util always shows "Novell edirectory agent closed", though eDir is running.
System/Application logs show nothing. Dsrepair on the Netware server always shows Time & Replicas in synch. No errors for clients, no slow-downs, nothing.
Two contributing factors I came across while troubleshooting:
-Allowing Terminal Service clients to remain active after disconnection
-disabling eCopy 9 "Inbox Monitor"
I'm now down to a reboot every other day. I've enabled full auditing in W2k3, but am not seeing anything around the time of reboot. The closest I came to an indicator was my attempt to manually kill the dhost process to reboot the server. This was done through a Terminal Services remote session, using Task Manager. My screen froze, and I lost connection. 3 minutes later, the server rebooted itself.
I'm sure I'm going to have to have management bite the bullet and open a support ticket with Tech Support, but thought I'd post here in case anyone has seen this or at least has a lead.
