NWDir User authentication

Hi,
We are implementing Single sign on in our application using NWDir.dll with javascript. Through which we are able to retrieve current machine user name and domain using ActiveX. It works well with IE. This is not working fine with Safari browser as ActiveX is not supported in Safari. Is there any other ways in which we will be able to achieve this functionality
