win2k-eDir8.7-iManager bare bonez install

Hello, I am attempting a bare bones install of eDirectory 8.7 and
iManager
without much luck.
I have eDirectory installed just fine, but iManager is just not
cooperating.
I can get to the main login screen and any attempt to login just
basically
hangs forever like the web browser is stuck in limbo. Quite
aggravating to
say the least.
This is my basic setup
Windows 2000 server SP3 + criticals
eDirectory 8.7 from CD
iManager 1.5.1 from download.novell
using IIS
I have my main webserver port 81
using http://ip_address:81/eMFrame/iManager.html
the login screen comes up but cannot log in. I can log in using
novell
client and I can browse the directory using consoleONE.
Anybody know what I am going through?
