I have seen this problem with groupwise version 8.0.1 build 88138. It seemed to be left over gw*.* files in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Deleted all gw*.* files in there and that fixed it. Actually if you get different errors i would check to see if those files are in there and delete them. They seem to cause a variety of weird errors that are simply fixed by deleting them.

I am not sure why some clean installs and even upgrades to groupwise client leave gw*.* files behind. And, sometimes its 1 file, sometimes its 20.
