Compile error - GWA 6.5.3

We've got a new WebAccess server ("GWEB" on Nware 6.5.5, gwa v6.5.3, Apache 2, and Tomcat 4) ready to replace a flakey aging WebAccess server ("GWA65" on Nware 6 sp5, gwa v6.5.0).

I can get to GWEB's WebAccess language screen (English), but after clicking GO, I get this error:
Compile Error: login.htt: Line 1: File does not exist: login.htt.. Cannot load file: login.htt.

I've seen TID10070654, but it doesn't apply:
- we don't have two template.path statements in webacc.cfg
- the NOVELL directory does exist on GWEB

The \\Gweb\sys\Novell\WebAccess\logs logfile says....

What might be causing this?? We can't do the server swap until this is fixed, obviously. :)
