Assuming the firewall still directs POP and IMAP to the GWIA they will continue to work and the GWIA will continue relaying mail for the hosts you have configured.
All the switch does is tell the GWIA to forward outbound mail to DNS/IP X, it doesn't affect it general operations.

The other thing is making sure the appliance identifies it self to the outside world correctly for things like RDNS checks etc...
