GrpWise 6.5 & 7

I am planning on upgrading my current system residing on netware 6, GW 6.5 to GW 7 running on windows 2003 server(not my choice...).

My plan is to get a new server, install 2003, edir and then groupWise 7. I want to create a new post office and MTA on the GW 7 box and then move mailboxes over. I do not want to migrate. I want to be able to do this over an extended period of time without any down time. Can I mix GW 6.5 and 7 stuff. I am assuming I will install the postoffice and mta on the 7 box first and then move 1/2 of the mailboxes over. If this is successful, I will be creating another GW 7 box, with it's own POA and MTA and move the remaining mailboxes over to it. I will then remove the GW 6.5 box. I will migrate the Gwia and the Web access over before removing the box.

Does this make sense and will it work. It may not be the best way, but it will keep my system up and the only downtime will be with the mailboxes that are moving.


Feel free to dive in and let me know if there are any flaws or things I have overlooked.
