FWIW, here is what I try for troubleshooting before giving up:
1) Uninstall/resinstall making sure that integrations are installed during setup. I'd recommend using CleanIt for any GW removal. It's very thorough.
2) Enabling integrations in Client Options.
3) Using the 'fixmapi.exe' in the Windows command line.
As I mentioned, I've had much better luck with 8 than previous versions.
