GW7 to GW8 on new hardware

I've got GW7 running on SLES9/OES. I've built a new SLES10SP1/OES2 server and I want to end up with GW8 running on the new hardware.

I have two questions to start with...
1. Should I go with SLES10 SP2/OES2 SP1 - it's easier to build it now than later!
2. Regardless of question #1, what's the best upgrade/migration path?
