When running
OES I still prefer the use of NSS on data volumes (salvage being one main reason, metadata being kept on the volume as well as in the NCP trustee files another). For Groupwise ext3 runs well and can be tuned to run better.
The 'debate' is not so much NSS vs ext3 (or Reiserfs for that matter) - that's more a choice that must be made and each has it's purpose and benefits.
The no-no I refer to is using NSS on the same disk holding your
OES system. This means you are using EVMS on your system disk and that can/will lead to different issues. It *always* means you have to take extra steps into consideration when updating (related to boot issues) and upgrading.
Clustering would need to happen on separate shared storage devices in any case. So NSS/EVMS is not needed on your system device.. in that case, avoid using it unless really really really needed... and even then, try to avoid it! ;)
