Palm LifeDrive Sync Problems

I received a new Palm LifeDrive today. GW PDA has problems when I try to sync:

Important palmOne Desktop components are missing and prevent this handheld
from synchronizing. Please download and install the palmOne Desktop for
your Handheld from http://www.palmone.com/support before synchronizing.

This is Windows XP Pro, with SP2. The LifeDrive has PalmOS Garnet 5.4.8.
I previously had a Zire 31. I uninstalled everything Palm or GW PDA
related before I started installing the PalmDesktop that came with the
LifeDrive.

If this device isn't supported yet, how long before it would be?
