What happens if he tries to create an email from GMS Web interface? Does that work? Only from the device he cannot send new emails?
What about appointments? Can he create app from the device?
If the issue is tight to a certain device then:
1.- Delete the account in GMS.
2.- Perform a HW reset on the device.
3.- Make sure the phone has the latest firmware and OS versions.
4.- Install the Intellisync client again.
5.- Configure the account and try again.
