Edir 8.8.5 nds-install does nothing?

Hi,
Installing (or trying to) on a SLES 10 SP1 + online updates server,
currently housing E-Dir 8.8, logged in as root.

When I issue the ./nds-install command, it returns me almost immediately to
the command prompt, with no messages, logs, or other hints at what I may be
doing wrong.

Using the 'regular install" linux i586 installation files. Help?
