Default LDAP Target System Driver Very Slow

We have 2 Sun LDAP directories that are populated by Identity Manager. Changes out to these directories just queue up and take a very long time to process. We are only seeing about 1000 transactions per hour. Currently there are 90k items in queue. The LDAP server load is minimal. When load testing the LDAP servers without IDM their throughput is amazing. It seems that IDM just isn't streaming them the information fast enough. Both IDM and LDAP are running on high end i7 8 core boxes. Any ideas?

We are running 3.6.1 on the IDM side and Sun Enterprise Directory 6.3 on the LDAP side.
