Yet it's surprising how ingrained something can become, and when non- or
semi-technical people come to depend on it, it's a real challenge to get
them to stop worrying about it.

Yes, and we technical types understand this, but the OP was about a
"manager" wanting to see events in the Windows Event Viewer thing. I'm
assuming that this manager is the semi-technical type, and was comforted
to see the constant stream of events in the Windows thing.

Maybe introducing them to the new IDM "dashboard" will alleviate their
worries.
