Default Password sync status - browser cache issue

Hello everybody,

We have noticed that using the password sync status portlet under IE6 and IE7 causes problems due to the way these browsers cache some of the information they receive when checking for the DirXML-PasswordSyncStatus attributes through the UA web server.

Here's the way to notice the problem :
1. Check password sync status with a user account having a properly synced password.
2. Change the password from the UA to something that you know will NOT sync to one of the connected systems (e.g. new password not compatible with connected system's local pwd policy).
*** You may want to wait a few seconds to make sure all drivers have had enough time to proccess the event ***
3. Go back to the password sync status portlet and notice that status is still "success" for the troublesome connected system.
4. Open you IE preferences and delete all "temporary internet files".
5. Go back to the password sync status portlet and notice that status is now "error" for the troublesome connected system (as expected).

Try the same scenario in Firefox and it will work properly at step 3.

There most likely is a way to tell IE6 and IE7 NOT to cache the information they fetch from the UA web server. But this likely will require a patch.

What do you all think ?

Regards,

Jerome
