Cannot open the NCS version file - not LUM, LDAP or OpenWBEM
Upfront, this is not the usual LDAP, LUM or OpenWBEM issues.
This is a two-node cluster running SLES10SP2/OES2SP1 and up until yesterday evening we had everything working just fine. Cluster could be managed from iManager by LUM-enabled accounts. We also had the following other LUM-enabled services running fine: login, sshd, su, tsafs, openwbem, httpstk/NRM.
Yesterday we had to power down both nodes in the cluster to handle a UPS issue. I took the non-master node offline by unloading cluster services and then shutting the server down, with no problems. The master node was brought down, again with no errors. When the master node was brought back up it properly joined the cluster and loaded all the resources. We then brought the second node back online it it joined the cluster just fine with no issues. Executing the "cluster" commands from either servers console works just fine, but I get the above dreaded error about not being able to access the file /_admin/Novel/Cluster/NCS.xml.
The odd thing is that all other LUM-enabled services work just fine. I can log into the server console, use ssh, access NRM and manage NSS via iManager on either server fine with a LUM-enabled account. However I cannot see _ADMIN/Novell/Cluster (or anything below it) and so cannot manage NCS from iManager. A basic check from both server consoles gets the following results:
as root:
'la /admin/Novell/Cluster/' works and displays proper files
'la /_admin/Novell/Cluster/' fails with "No such file or directory"
as LUM-enabled (admin or equiv):
'la /admin/Novell/Cluster' fails with permission denied
'la /_admin/Novell/Cluster/' fails with "No such file or directory"
At this point I am stumped and just happy that I can still manage this cluster via command line at the server console at the moment. Any ideas of help would be much appreciated.
