Almost certainly the DS database is so corrupt it can't be opened. But first make sure the SYS volume mounted, do VOLUMES on the console. Then make sure DS itself is loaded with M DS .

If those steps are OK, then down the server to Dos and bring it up with Server -NDB . Ignore all errors, load dsrepair, advanced options, and run a local repair with all options set to Yes. Accept suggested changes, exit dsrepair and reboot.

If dsrepair won't do the repair, or it does but the problem remains, you have a dead server. What you do next depends on whether this is a single-server tree or not.

If it is, you basically need to restore DS from tape, assuming you have a recent backup.
