Default Quickbooks Professional 2009 on NW 5.1

Hi,

I can't get a straight answer on the Intuit web page so I was hoping that someone here could help me.

We have a small NW 5.1 network with Quickbooks Professional 5.1 (3 users) installed. The way it was installed, per the instructions, puts a "company file" on the server, but designates one of the users' computers as, essentially, the server. The primary "company files", which contain the actual database records of entries, resides on the designated user's computer instead of on the server. Essentially, there is a peer to peer setup, with the server acting, I guess, as the "key" just designating which computer holds the master files.

This is a ridiculous waste of time. The "master user" needs to have her computer on at all times. However, there are security issues with this.

Has anyone set up QB Pro 2009 on a Novell network? If so, how was it done and how can I move everything over to it?

Thanks.
