Question about adding extra hd space to a vol.

I am upgrading a file server with more harddrive space. I am going to leave the current array the way it is. I am going to set up a new array with the addtional (new) drives. My question is " Can I add some of my 'New' (array)harddrive space to an existing Vol even though that Vol is using the 'current' array as its harddrive space.
