Default ArcServe Mgr - "failed to authenticate"

Last week, one of our NW 5.1 SP8 servers developed
a bad drive in its RAID 5. The server had a R/W Replica
of the Root (no other Replicas, as this is a small network).
The server was a Secondary Time Source.

While this server was down, ArcServe Manager was unable to
connect to either of two other NW 5.1 servers (that have
Tape Drives attached). When it was back up, ArcServe Manager
connected.

Because this other server was being phased out, rather than
replacing the drive, we removed it from the network (NDS) and
shut it down. NDS objects left behind have been removed via
NWADMIN and Console One.

However, ArcServe Manager continues to have problems connecting
to these two other servers, now.

Errors report "failed to authenticate" with either an "EC=0"
or "EC=1".

The saved login information hasn't changed (and I even reset
one of the passwords used). Running ASTOP and CATIRPC -D
shows the default port numbers as initialized. I also tried
adding my workstation to the servers' hosts file (unnecessary
in the past) but still no luck.

I've checked various .ini and .cfg files for any reference
to the removed server--but haven't found anything.

It seems like the Manager is timing out attempting to locate
a removed server that I'm not even trying to authenticate a
connection to.

Any suggestions, anyone???

Thanks,

-Steve
