Slow mapping to samba share when novell client installed
I have been racking my brain with this one for some time now. I have a samba share setup and when users using windows try and map a drive to it, it works but takes almost 2 min before it connects. This ONLY occurs on pcs with novell client installed. If it not installed it only takes about 4 sec to map the drive.
Also if I disable the firewall on the server then it will map in about 4 sec. So seems to be an issue with RH firewall and Novell client. I have ports 137, 138, 139 and 445 open for samba. The pcs are using the ipaddress and not the hostname to map.
This happens on all of our customers sites that use novell, if they do not use novell then there is no slowness. I have searched the internet up and down with no results.
Running Redhat ES4 server with windows xp pcs using novell client.
Anyone have any ideas?
