rcd refuses to start

I installed OES Linux with _no_ extra Novell stuff.

I've installed rcd, rug, red-carpet but I cannot get the rcd daemon to start up.

/etc/init.d/rcd restart

There is no server listening on port 505, however. Turning off the firewall doesn't help.

I have another server and rcd runs just fine. Uninstalling rug, rcd, red-carpet and reinstalling doesn't fix the problem.

Any ideas?
