DHCP on OES 2 Linux
I recently migrated the DHCP service from Netware to Linux. However, we could never get it to stop ignoring the leases file and result in handing out duplicate addresses. We then just took down the old DHCP server, let all the leases expire an then brought up the new server.
This is the issue:
DHCP runs great. I have a clustered DHCP volume (POSIX) and have 4 possible servers to fail between. However, after reading the documentation I completed the post install portion and copied dhcpd.leases to mnt/dhcp/var/lib/dhcp/db/dhcpd.leases. After a few weeks of being up, I realized it's writing the lease info into /var/lib/dhcp/db/dhcpd.leases on the server not to the shared volume.
Also, I cannot view leases in the DNS/DHCP console. (Should I be able to?)
It seems it's using the subnet and DHCP information in eDirectory, but the service or volume isn't set up right. I'm afraid it won't fail over properly, but if it does, the leases file will not contain the right information.
What should I do here?
