the format of the networksaddress cannot be changed and therefor is no longer usable via a normal ldap search filter.

A idea from another knowledge partner would be to use the identity manager and create a loopback driver that extracts the ip address of the that attribute and stores it in a different attribute that is used for the proxy filter. As I do not know if you use IDM I don't know if this could be a work around.

I personally would say you should contact the vendor of that proxy solution about this problem and he should provide a updates ldap module that can handle those different networkaddress formats.
