Abend on CPQHTHSA.NLM when swapping disks to identical HW

This is really puzzling to me. We have a 6.5 SP5 CPR server that runs Border Manager 3.8 SP5. This server has been giving us problems and we suspect there is a hardware problem. The server is an HP DL360 G3. We have another server with identical hardware which we ran diagnostics on and everything came back fine. We tried to do a disk swap to the identical server plus the same network connections. The server seems to load up fine but within a few minutes there are multiple abends, and most mention CPQHTHSA.NLM. We don't get a lot of time to play with this because right now it's the only internet connection. I know I can try keeping the compaq NLM's unloaded and also try keeping border manager unloaded for a while. Aside from those troubleshooting steps is there anything glaring I'm missing here? It's been a while but I must have used this disk-swap technicque a dozen times in the past, to replace completely failed servers or whatnot. As long as the hardware was the same it was never a problem. And as soon as we go back to the original server, we don't see this problem. It's really puzzling to me.
