This isn't a server abend or hang issue, there is a separate forum covering Novell
Client issues...
With your final posting so far you're telling, that it takes some 30 seconds until
the error shows up. So it's some timeout occuring when trying to resolve the volume.
So you might want to check
1.) that the available patches for NWClient 4.91.5 are in place, as David mentioned.
2.) you might want to check your SLP setup server and client side.
Curious, what your wireshark traces will present..
