Seriously, stop playing with that poor server. You don't even remotely
have enough information (or you don't share it with us), to know what
you should do there at all. You're also obviously not runnign DNS now at
all on your servers (hence that error), so it's most definitely totally
the wrong space to do whatever you want to do. You first need to find
out *what* exactly you're supposed to do ("use a cname parameter" alone
is sensefree), and then you have to find out where, that is wherever
your DNS is currently running. At a wild guess, at your ISP, totally
unrelated to your own servers.
Maybe you should tell us the whole story behind this first, and why and
especially for what you would need a CNAME. If you can't answer these
questions, there's no chance you'll ever by coincidence do what's
necessary to fix whatever problem you're having.
