Actually, no. The Windows worksattion is only a display. The real
copying occurs directly between the servers. OTOH, it wouldn't matter
anyways.

It doesn't matter how you copied them. It *does* matter how you access
them.

Yes, because somewhere in the folder is a filename that contains a
character the new server cannot convert into it's codepage.

Hard to say from here. But this issue produces seemingly very weird
results, because the first occurence of an unmappable character in some
folder causes the complete rest of the foder contents to not be
displayed. You can try the NSS setting I mentioned in my previous post
to verify this.
